Digitalized Library Notification

To stay tuned with the digitalized society and to improve the efficiency of the automatic library system, the library messages and notifications will be sent via email or SMS to notify the patrons.

E-mail

The default email address is the NTNU school email. The patron can set alternative emails on their own. The email is just a gentle reminder. Please check your personal email from time to time. Or you may also use multiple notification methods. Business or free email services are not under the library’s domain. If the email notification was not sent out properly. There is nothing the library could do to improve. It is advised that the patron use the school email for the notification. Not receiving the email/ notification cannot be the acceptable reason for overdue returns.

The procedure of the notification: Sender is NTNU Library Notice (libread@ntnu.edu.tw, please feel safe to click open the email.

Notification types:

  1. Courtesy Notice: The notice will be sent three days before the due date to remind the patron.
  2. Overdue Notice: This notice is to remind you that the items you borrowed are overdue, please return them at your earliest convenience. This type of notification will go out three times. The first time is the next day the books are due. If not returned, the second overdue notice will go out a week after. The third one will be sent out two weeks after the due date.
  3. Request Books Arrive: The notice is to remind you that your requested book is ready, please visit the library to borrow it.
  4. Recall Notice: the book you borrowed has been requested by another patron. The due date has been changed. Please return the listed item prior to the due date. (Please refer to Book Borrowing Policies)
  5. Overdue Recall Notice: The item you borrowed has been requested by another patron and is now overdue. Please return the listed item at your earliest convenience. This type of notification will go out three times. The first time is the next day the books are due. If not returned, the second overdue notice will go out a week after. The third one will be sent out two weeks after the due date.

If you want to change the setting or the email address for the notification, please proceed to the My Library section.

Short message service

The service requires an online application. Please visit My Library and tick the mobile box in the reader’s area for the SMS service. The service includes: due date, overdue notice, request book available, recall notification, interlibrary loan card available, request book from other branch library arrive, etc.

My library due date calendar

My library due date calendar is a calendar information service that can automatically remind patrons of the due date of the library loans. It can be applied to personal agenda management software, such as Outlook or Google Calendar. In the patron’s loan records, the patron can easily import “My library due date calendar” (ics file) into personal agenda management software. It can help the patron to browse the due dates of the library loan all at one glance.

Dealing with the garbled library email

Most of the issue with garbled email is due to the Email character encoding (UTF-8). Please revise the email setting, and change it to UTF-8 encoding to fix the garbled email.
